Berlusconi busted and then not.
Berlusconi had originally received a couple of prison sentences - one for Tax fraud, and another for paying for sex with an underage woman. He always denied any wrongdoing, and appealed the sentences. On 17 July 2014 a court in Milan overturned the underage sex conviction and its seven year prison sentence. In July 2014 he was carrying out community service for the tax conviction.

While in power, Berlusconi passed a law granting the Prime Minister immunity from prosecution. Although this was later struck down, this ruling has allowed Berlusconi to avoid some charges, and other accusations have been refuted until the statute of limitations ran out.
